MESSAGE FROM THE CLUB CHAIRMAN


As you are aware Roger Brittenden completes his current contract on 31 July 2010.

The current cost structure of the Club has been unsustainable for some time and the Board has carried out reviews of staffing and cost structures. The details of these will appear in the President's report in the 2009-2010 Annual Report which will be posted on the website in the week ending 13 August 2010.

One of the unfortunate results of the review is that it was not financially possible within the current revenue streams for the Club to renew Roger's contract on the same terms and conditions as previously. An attempt was made to find a solution which would retain Roger's services in the Club but a proposal acceptable to Roger and within the financial constraints imposed on the Club was not possible. Regrettably therefore, as already intimated to you, Roger will cease paid employment with the Club from Saturday.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Roger for all he has done for the Club over many years in both a voluntary and paid position. He has always been a robust and loyal supporter of the Shore way . Knowing Roger he will continue to contribute to the Club in ways which only he can do and we look forward to that.

From 1 August 2010, Bruce Warner assumes the role of Club Cricket Manager and will be in charge of all cricket operations. Any matters concerning grounds and cricket should be directed to him at clabru@orcon.net.nz.

Any matters concerning Juniors should initially be addressed to John Brook ffarnworth@xtra.co.nz.
