Changing of the guard for the Executive Board
The President, Kevin Robinson, announced today that, in accordance with the succession planning outlined at the Annual General Meeting, Matt Smith has taken over the Club Chair from Jeff Chapman as from today. In making the announcement Kevin said:-

“Matt continues the tradition of the Smith family in service to North Shore Cricket Club. He brings recent playing experience and his legal and business background to the position and will be a worthy successor to Jeff. It is good to see the governance and management of the Club pass to the younger generation. The Board wishes him well in his new position. We also wish Jeff well in his well-earned retirement”
Outgoing Chairman Jeff Chapman noted that “I have felt privileged to have served as Chairman of the Club for the last seven years. This period has seen substantial change in the club, in particular the move from a volunteer operation to paid sports and club management. In this respect we have been no different from other clubs but like all clubs of our size this has presented financial and other challenges. We have come through this well and I am sure that the club is now well positioned both in terms of its financial and human resources to face the challenges of the future.

To the extent that my term has been successful this is in no small measure due to the support I have had from my fellow Board members and the full time management, firstly Roger Brittenden and now Bruce Warner.

I want to give special thanks to those who have served on the Board during my term:-
·         The elected members – Warwick Smith, Norm Scott, Chris Mak, Campbell Newman, Andrew Reeder, Craig McGuigan, Matt Smith and Jamie Stuart
·         The junior chairs – Mike Duncraft, Murray Forbes, John Brook
·         Ken Miller who as Treasurer over the entire period has ensured that our finances have been kept on an even keel over what has been a challenging time
·         Kevin Robinson (DoveMyer) who as President has been a tower of strength to me over the period.

Although not a Board member, Barry Sinclair as Patron has acted as a mentor throughout the period and ensured that whatever skills I brought to the table were tempered by the needs of cricket.

I wish my successor well in picking up the reins of office and moving the club forward into its 150th year and beyond.”

New chairman Matt Smith when asked about his new role stated that "I'm really quite honoured to be appointed to this position, particularly given the Club's long and proud history and the place it holds in the local community. I'm looking forward to the new challenge, and hope I can play a part in ensuring that cricket continues to prosper at the Domain.

A big thanks to Jeff Chapman - Jeff has put a considerable amount of time and effort into Club administration, and in the last few months has gone to great lengths to ensure that my transition into this role will be a smooth one."
